Snowflake Puzzle Rules

Snowflake Puzzles are a new sudoku-like puzzle comprised of 55 hexagons, 13 Gray and 42 white. Each gray hexagon is surrounded by six white hexagons, three of which “point” to the gray hexagon. There is a number in each gray hexagon. This number is the sum of the three numbers in the three white hexagons that “point” to it. To start, all gray hexagons contain a number, while only some white hexagons have a number. Your objective is to fill in all the empty white hexagons.

In order solve a Snowflake Puzzle, you need to place a number (1 through 6) in each empty hexagon following these simple rules:

1. The number in each gray hexagon is the sum of the three numbers pointing to it in the white hexagons

2. Each gray hexagon is surrounded by the numbers 1 through 6 once and only once in each of the six surrounding white hexagons

About Snowflake Puzzles

Snowflake Puzzles are a new sudoku-like puzzle created by John L. Lehet. In addition to this Web App, there are two Snowflake Puzzle books available on Amazon.com. In addition, an android app is currently under development and will be available in September 2022! There are four levels of play:

1. Beginner - The numbers in 9 white hexagons will be provided. These puzzles are intended as a starting point and are not intended to be too taxing!

2. Moderate - The numbers in 7 white hexagons will be provided. These puzzles are a step up from Beginner Puzzles, but still not too taxing!

3. Challenging - The numbers in 6 white hexagons (all on the outside) will be provided. These can be more difficult, but sometimes are not too taxing.

4. Expert - The numbers in 6 white hexagons will be provided, but the numbers in the gray hexagons will be limited (e.g., no 6 or 15). These are intended to be very challenging.
